Did your parents ever confess that Johnny Carson was in their bedroom on the night you were conceived? That happened to lots of people back in the day, but things must have changed.

The latest news, according to a study of Italian couples, is that a TV in the bedroom is the ruination of sex and a most effective means of birth control.

The study quizzed 523 couples about the effect TV has on their sex lives. Turns out that those with no TV at all have sex about twice a week, but those that tune in to the tube make love only once a week. For those over 50, the whoopee falls to once or twice a month.

But maybe it's just that Johnny's laughs were the best medicine, or aphrodisiac, after all. The study found that reality shows put the damper on sex for a third of all couples, and violent films threw a wet blanket on passion for half the couples at any age.
