Men may experience more problems and diminished sexual function as they get older, but that clearly doesn't mean they're less satisfied with their sex lives.
In fact, men in their fifties are more satisfied with their sex lives than those in their thirties and forties, according to researchers in America and Norway, who asked 1,185 men aged 20 to 79 about aspects of their sex life.
The men were asked to consider various aspects of their sex lives and to rate their satisfaction from zero to four, with four representing no problems.
Fifty-something men showed levels of contentment comparable to men aged 20 to 29, despite increased problems with such sexual functions as getting an erection.
Men in their twenties recorded an average overall satisfaction level of 2.79, while men in their fifties reported the second highest level of satisfaction, at an average of 2.77. Men in their forties were close behind, with an average rating of 2.72. But men in their thirties were the least satisfied; they scored only 2.55
