Monday 2 February, 2009Men spend billions on sneaky sex
According to a survey by sex magazine
Club International, men in the UK spend £3.9-billion a year on the sex industry—that's about US $7.3-billion—and hide it from their wives and girlfriends.
A third of that—£1.3-billion—goes for sneaky trips to strip clubs some three times a year, at an average cost of £62.
Extrapolating from the survey sample of 3,000 men,
Club International found that 7 percent—equal to 1.5 million nationwide—visit a prostitute four times a year, paying about £61 a pop. Another 8 percent—1.8 million—spend money on raunchy images every month, spending a total £496-million a year on adult internet sites and erotic downloads for their mobile phones. Still more cash hemorrhages into satellite TV channels, phone sex, and erotic magazines and videos.
Almost a third of the men worry constantly that they'll be found out. Consequently, they've worked out a number of schemes to prevent wives and girlfriends from uncovering their guilty secret. Some stash the cash in the garden shed. Others open separate bank accounts (more than a million admit to this one) or falsely claim expenses at work. Some even steal from their lady's purse to pay for their diversions.
Even so, nearly all of these guys—more than 90 percent—insist they still love their partners and don't want to leave them.
They only do it—80 percent of them say—because their love life is so dull.
