Thursday 22 January, 2009Scholarly study exposes nipple stimulation

At long last, scholars have cleared up an issue that surely has confounded people throughout history. Noting that no attempt has ever been made to actually question people about whether or not nipple or breast stimulation influences sexual arousal during lovemaking (the possibility "has only been the subject of opinion-based comment rather than evidence-based study"), researchers have published their authoritative findings.

According to an article published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, 81.5 percent of the women reported that stimulation of their nipples or breasts caused or enhanced their sexual arousal; 78.2 percent agreed that, when they were already sexually aroused such manipulation increased their arousal; 59.1 percent had asked to have their nipples stimulated during lovemaking; and only 7.2 percent found that the manipulation decreased their arousal. Of the men, 51.7 percent reported that nipple stimulation caused or enhanced their sexual arousal; 39 percent agreed that, when they were already sexually aroused, such manipulation increased their arousal; only 17.1 percent had ever asked to have their nipples stimulated; and only 7.5 percent found that such manipulation actually decreased their arousal.

Official conclusion? Manipulation of the nipples or breasts causes or enhances sexual arousal in approximately 82 percent of young women and 52 percent of young men. Less than 8 percent report that it decreases their arousal.

Now you know. So what are you going to do about it?

iversity of Sheffield (UK), and Cindy Meston, PhD, of the University of Texas, Austin (USA) administered a short questionnaire to 301 "sexually experienced" undergraduates (148 men, 153 women) aged 17-29 years (95 percent were between 18 and 22).
