Tuesday 20 January, 2009South Korean students think sex is okay
Sexual attitudes are changing in South Korea, according to a survey conducted by Bien-Aller, a Seoul-based matchmaking company. Apparently, a whopping 67.4 percent of respondents said that having sex had nothing to do with marriage. Fewer than a third said either they would never have premarital sex or sexual relations were acceptable only if a couple planned to marry.
Not surprisingly, among the 528 male and female college students surveyed across the country, male students are more willing to have casual sex than are their female counterparts.
Of 249 young men, 28 percent said sex without love was okay. But 35 percent would do it only with someone they loved, and nearly 13 percent said they would have sex only with someone they planned to marry.
Of 279 young women, 27 percent said they would have sex only with a person they planned to marry, and 17 percent said they would never do it before marriage.
Overall, the survey reflects increasingly liberal attitudes among Korean youths.
